Copywriter

This part-time remote Copywriter role focuses on creating clear, engaging written materials that support the group’s research, outreach, and educational initiatives. The Copywriter will draft and refine press releases, web copy, social media posts, newsletters, and other communication pieces targeted to academic, industry, and public audiences. Day-to-day tasks include researching topics related to sugarcane studies, collaborating with researchers and project leads to translate technical information into accessible language, and ensuring all content aligns with institutional guidelines and branding. The Copywriter will also maintain an editorial calendar, adapt messages for different channels, and respond to feedback from stakeholders to improve clarity and impact. This role requires regular virtual meetings, adherence to deadlines, and proactive communication in a remote work environment.
Qualifications

• Strong writing skills, with demonstrated ability to produce clear, concise, and audience-appropriate content.
• Experience preparing press releases and media-facing materials, including structuring key messages and adapting tone for different outlets.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and convey complex information in accessible language.
• Proficiency in proofreading and editing to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to style guidelines.
• Basic understanding of marketing principles, content positioning, and audience engagement across digital channels.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Familiarity with academic or research environments, especially in agriculture or related fields, is an advantage.
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Languages, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Comfort using collaborative online tools (e.g., document sharing, project management, video conferencing) for remote teamwork.
