FRESCo is seeking a Senior Writer & Communications Consultant focused on Building Retrofit Planning and Strategy.

What You’ll Do
- Lead and deliver the creation of compelling reports, proposals, and strategic communications for our company, clients, partners and stakeholders.
- Use your outstanding research and writing skills to translate complex technical and financial data into clear and engaging narratives.
- Manage and deliver consulting projects, in consultation with technical experts, related to: building retrofit technical challenges, best practices for retrofit strategies, decarbonization policies, curriculum/training/education material development, etc.
- Write winning proposals for government, utility, and industry clients.
- Conduct stakeholder engagement and synthesize insights into actionable recommendations.
- Support our strategy, engineering and marketing team with well-written content.
- Support market transformation initiatives through thought leadership and content development.
What You Bring
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in professional research, writing and strategic communications (examples of previous work that you independently wrote and edited will be requested).
- Experience working in consulting, with a demonstrated ability to thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments that require a flexible mindset and an ability to take initiative.
- Proven success in writing proposals and delivering high-impact written reports.
- Relevant academic background, or equivalent experience.
- Strong research and analytical capabilities, including quantitative analysis.
- Experience managing projects, with the ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to evolving priorities.
- Willingness to learn and become a technical expert in our field of work.
- Flexibility to take on a diverse range of task across writing, content creation, strategy and project support, adapting to our evolving priorities and client needs.
Strong Assets
- Familiarity with retrofit technologies, building systems, decarbonization, mechanical or electrical engineering.
- Experience with policy development or research on policy
- Experience with writing curriculum and educational materials.
- Experience with content creation (social media, writing for websites, blogs, e-news, video, etc).
- Proficiency in Excel and data visualization tools.
- Experience using AI tools to enhance productivity and research.

- This is primarily a research, writing, and editing job. You need to have deep experience and a passion for these tasks.
- We are also interested in you using your content creation and communication skills to expand the reach and impact of our work. Bring your talent and fresh ideas.
- This is a work from home (or co-operative office space in your community) position.
- Staff are ideally based in Metro Vancouver or Southern Vancouver Island, but we are flexible to other locations for the right person.
- Our full team meets in person once a month, usually on a Thursday, in Vancouver. This would not be a monthly requirement for people living outside of southern BC.
