Men in Blazers is the No. 1 Soccer Media Network in the U.S. With a wide reach and a diverse, vocal fan base, we engage with teams, players, celebrity fans, and brands we love, to share our passion for soccer across the nation. Using humor, emotion, intelligence, and to-the-minute pop cultural aptitude, we provide fans with unique content that breaks down the biggest stories in the game in ways that are authentic, meaningful, and compulsively entertaining. 

We are looking for a Newsletter Editor/Writer who will be responsible for writing and/or editing engaging content across our growing suite of newsletters, while primarily focusing on the world of men’s football. This will include overseeing the production of daily and weekly newsletters — from hopping in on writing duties and building/scheduling newsletters in our publishing platform, to editing other writers to produce the best content possible. 

You’ll at times be expected to: write or edit match previews and recaps, curate the most important moments in the sport from an increasingly congested media landscape, connect with our highly-engaged audiences, and both inform and entertain in equal measure.

This role involves keeping an extremely close eye on what’s happening across all the major European leagues, along with the cultural conversation around football happening on social media. The position requires collaboration with a full-time writer and the newsletter director and participation in brainstorming sessions, all while adhering to Men in Blazers’ brand standards.

Location: United States, Remote 

What you’ll do:

• Step in for our staff writer on writing duties when needed and share editing duties with our newsletter director the rest of time, all while working closely with the newsletter director on project management, audience development, and overall content strategy.
• Curate the most important moments and developments in the world of football to include in the newsletter.
• Meet or exceed deadlines while pushing the larger newsletter calendar and format forward.
• Create weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports documenting progress for each of our newsletters.
• Participate in editorial brainstorms and team meetings, pitching new ideas and ways to cover the biggest developments across the most popular football leagues and tournaments.
• Partner with MiB’s social media and marketing teams on cross-promotion and larger content packages
• Watch a lot of football – whether that’s live games or highlights.

What you need:

• 5+ years of proven editorial experience, including at least 2 years of managing writers.
• Strong understanding of newsletters: what works, what doesn’t, how, and why.
• Encyclopedic knowledge of global football. 
• Love of pop culture and the ways in which it intersects with sports.
• Exceptional creative writing and editorial skills.
• Ability to write/edit copy and create content adhering to Men in Blazers’ brand standards and tone of voice.
• Ability to work early mornings and weekends as needed.
• Desire to engage with the Men in Blazers community and be the voice of the brand for our growing newsletter audience.
• Not required, but nice to haves include: Experience writing or performing comedy + skills in project management or design.
