Bisnow is seeking a seasoned, razor-sharp copy editor to support our burgeoning commercial real estate news operations. We’re in the business of delivering intelligence at the intersection of international commercial real estate and politics, sports, entertainment, business, technology and beyond. Bisnow is seeking a thorough editor with a deep passion for the news who can help us continue to expand our ambitions. This is a remote position.

THE BISNOW NEWSROOMWe take the news seriously, blending hard news scoops with analytical enterprise stories and award-winning accountability journalism. Our newsroom is small but ambitious and strives to find creative ways to cover the commercial real estate industry. We hold a hard line between our news team and BISNOW’s sales and events arms, freeing our reporters to write heavy-hitting stories without fear of sponsor influence. Our reporters dive deep on a local beat but also have the opportunity to write stories for a national audience and work on long-term special projects of national or international significance.

Key Responsibilities

• Copy edit news articles of varying lengths from around the United States, ensuring stories are grammatically and factually correct and are in Bisnow style. 
• Be the last line of defense not only on article cleanliness but also newsworthiness and objectivity.
• As part of a team of editors, help guide the editorial strategy of Bisnow’s newsroom.

What are we looking for?

• Minimum five years of experience working on an editorial team with a specific emphasis on copy editing.
• Ideally, experience in business-to-business reporting; experience in commercial real estate reporting a major plus.
• A deep knowledge of AP style and grammar.
• A fast learner who can grasp Bisnow procedure and unique style quickly.
• Flexibility and adaptability to pivot and reprioritize as news comes in.
• Clear, friendly and firm communication style.
• Excellent news judgment.
• Extensive experience working in content management systems.
• Basic SEO knowledge.
